CareTracker Success Story

Eliza Jennings
Background

Eliza Jennings, established in 1888 on Detroit Avenue, is a 150-bed nursing home in a Cleveland, Ohio landmark building. Eliza Jennings offers respite, rehabilitative, and long-term skilled nursing care.

Eliza Jennings has enhanced its quality of care by implementing an electronic supportive documentation system called CareTracker.

Using CareTracker, nurses and nursing assistants record observations and services on wall-mounted touch screen computers located throughout the community. As a result, Eliza Jennings’ staff has been able to spend even more time with residents because they are spending less time doing paperwork.

This information helps with care planning, MDS completion, and management functions. In addition, CareTracker ensures that each resident’s confidentiality is maintained in accordance with the Federal Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) policy.

“The staff find the system easy and fun to use, and they are proud of what they are doing”, says Denise Gannon, Director of Nursing at Eliza Jennings. When recruiting new staff, having CareTracker shows potential employees that Eliza Jennings is a progressive organization on the leading edge of providing excellent resident care.

CareTracker is also being used at another Eliza Jennings Senior Care Network community, The Renaissance Health Center, part of The Renaissance, a fully accredited continuing care retirement community in Olmsted Township, Ohio.

The Eliza Jennings nursing community is the Eliza Jennings Senior Care Network’s flagship community. The Eliza Jennings Senior Care Network is a not-for-profit organization. The Eliza Jennings Senior Care Network also manages The Renaissance, a continuing care retirement community in Olmsted Township; Jennings Place, an assisted living community in Cleveland for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease; Devon Oaks, an assisted living community in Westlake; Signal, a community based geriatric assessment program; and Acacia Place, an adult day center in Cleveland.
